Use These Tips to Overcome Your Fear of the Dentist
If you have a fear of the dentist, a routine cleaning can become a major source of stress and anxiety. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways that you can work to overcome your dental fears.

Talk to Dr. Layer
If you are fearful about your dental procedure, tell us during your appointment. This will help us decide the best approach for your appointment, and you'll feel more in control of your exam when everyone is on the same page.

Learn about the Procedure
Knowledge is power, so knowing exactly what will happen during your dental procedure can leave you feeling more comfortable. It is your right to understand the work that is going to be done on your teeth.

Work on Your Breathing
Practicing yoga and meditation outside of the dental office can assist you with your dental appointments. Breathing techniques can help you to relax when you are sitting in the dental chair.

Prioritize Preventive Dentistry
Preventive dentistry is a helpful way to prevent major dental problems that may involve more time spent in a dental chair. The more often that you go in for regular cleanings, the less likely it is that you will experience a greater dental problem that requires extensive treatment.

If you are living with dental anxiety, contact our office today for more tips on how to deal with your fears.

How to Boost Your Saliva Production
If you are suffering from dry mouth, you may be interested in ways that you can boost your saliva production to keep your teeth safe and breath fresh. Try following a few of these steps:

• Chew on sugar-free gum. This can stimulate your salivary glands.
• Eat foods that are high in fiber, such as crunchy fruits and vegetables.
• Limit your alcohol consumption, as alcohol will dry out the mouth.
• Try oil-pulling, oil-pulling has shown to help boost saliva production
• drink lots of water; even if you've tried everything and still have dry mouth, water can help flush food and bacteria out of the mouth for you.

Hopefully some of these tips will work for you. If you have any dry mouth concerns feel free to call us anytime, we'd be happy to discuss these and more options more thoroughly with you!

Interdental Devices: A Gift for Gums
People of all ages can be plagued with plaque if good dental hygiene is not practiced. One result is gums that bleed or become inflamed or irritated.

A simple remedy is to stimulate the area between the teeth where they meet the gums. It won't solve the problem overnight but can greatly improve your gums if incorporated into your daily dental care routine.

Several products are available ranging from ordinary wooden toothpicks to products specially designed for the purpose. Always use caution and a gentle approach.

If you'd like our recommendations give us a call.
